...in the mind of a young girl who loved horses but lived in the city and couldn't have one...

...of the perfect horse...

...in her mind's eye, Arabian in type and spirit, but splashed with the abstract markings of the Pinto. And not just a horse, but a companion and friend, athletic and intelligent enough to do just about anything...

To this ideal is dedicated the breeding program at Passerina Pastures...Where dreams come true...!
Located in the Pineywoods of Deep East Texas, approximately equidistant from Houston, to the south, and Dallas, to the northwest.

Passerina Pastures is the embodiment of the girlhood dream of          Mimi Hoppe Wolf, Artist.

Growing up in the city of Houston, Texas, Mimi honed her artistic skills drawing pictures of horses. While attending Stephen F Austin State University in Nacogdoches, field trips with one of her art classes took her to the farm of Henry Heflin, who still lived as if in a bygone era. She fell in love with a pinto filly Henry called Mable, whose sire was a paint/quarter stallion of old King Ranch bloodlines, and whose dam was Henry's treasured gardening companion. Unable to refuse Henry's offer, ten watercolor paintings of Henry's house later, Mable became Mimi's first horse.
Marbled Dolphin, Mable, Henry Heflin & Maymontyme,
in front of the house Mimi did 10 watercolor pictures of for Henry to give to each one of his grandchildren, to pay for Mable.
Preferring Arabian type and temperament, Mimi bred Mable to an Egyptian/Crabbet bred stallion and was blessed with the loudly-marked filly, Maymontyme, who became the foundation mare for the Half-Arabian breeding program at Passerina Pastures.
Maytyme's first filly, Mirabel, produced the stallion Oshquah, by the big, bold, black grandson of Cass Ole (of movie-star fame), Cassabaskin.

About that time, Mimi acquired her first purebred Arabian mare to breed to Cassabaskin, resulting in the beautiful bay colt, Legobask, now main herd sire at Passerina Pastures.

In the ongoing process, Passerina Pastures strives to produce the perfect horse...the horse of your dreams.
